About Us

Situated on the Isle of Purbeck, just a stone’s throw from Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, Woodyhyde is a relaxed, family-run campsite offering space, freedom and beautiful countryside views. The campsite spans 13 acres across three large fields and provides 160 unmarked pitches, allowing guests to choose their own pitch on arrival. Thanks to the generous layout, the site never feels overcrowded, even during the busiest summer months, and wildlife such as deer, pheasants and a wide variety of birds are often seen roaming the fields. Camping & Pitches

One of our fields runs alongside a heritage steam railway linking Corfe Castle and Swanage, creating a unique and much-loved feature of the campsite. Woodyhyde welcomes tents, campervans and motorhomes and offers a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches. We have 100 electric hook-up points, including 20 hardstanding pitches suitable for campervans and motorhomes. View prices and book online.

Our modern facilities block includes 18 showers, with separate male and female areas and disabled shower and toilet facilities. A large, well-stocked onsite shop and off-licence provides a wide selection of fresh food, camping essentials, gas, equipment and everyday items, making it easy to settle in without needing to travel far.

Dogs & Free Wi-Fi

Shower Facilities

Woodyhyde Campsite has two modern shower and toilet blocks, designed to provide comfortable and practical facilities for all guests. Across the site there are 26 showers, 18 toilets and 16 wash basins, including separate male and female areas and disabled shower and toilet facilities.

In addition to the main toilet and shower facilities, there are 11 dedicated washing-up sinks located around the site, along with a chemical waste disposal point for campervans and motorhomes. A further 24 toilets are positioned across the campsite to ensure facilities are easily accessible from all fields.

We aim to operate a more environmentally friendly campsite and have installed solar panels to help power the shower blocks. Showers are token operated, with tokens available from the onsite shop and reception. Each token costs 50p and provides approximately four minutes of shower time.

Wildlife

Wildlife & Wild Flowers found onsite

Woodyhyde Campsite is set within a rich and varied natural landscape on the Isle of Purbeck, and we take great care to encourage and protect the wild flowers and wildlife found across the site. Our fields, hedgerows and surrounding countryside support a wide range of native plant species, helping to create a colourful and ever-changing environment throughout the camping season.

During spring and summer, guests can enjoy seeing a variety of seasonal wild flowers growing naturally across the campsite, including meadow plants and hedgerow species that attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators. These areas are carefully managed to balance camping use with conservation, allowing nature to thrive alongside a working campsite.

Wildlife such as Sika deer, pheasants and many species of birds are regularly seen in and around the fields. Owls and woodpeckers are frequently heard. By maintaining natural boundaries and managing the land with care, we aim to support local wildlife while preserving the peaceful countryside setting that Woodyhyde is known for.

This approach to land management forms part of our ongoing commitment to conservation, reflected in our David Bellamy Gold Award. We continue to manage the campsite in a way that supports biodiversity, offering guests a nature-friendly camping experience in Dorset.
