Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre is an internationally acclaimed 65-acre wildlife park near Wareham in Dorset and is home to over 150 rescued primates across 15 species. Known worldwide from the long-running television series Monkey Business, Monkey World plays a vital role in rescuing, rehabilitating and protecting abused and mistreated primates.
Rescued Primates at Monkey World
The park is home to the largest group of chimpanzees outside Africa, many of whom have been rescued from circuses, laboratories and illegal captivity. Monkey World focuses on long-term welfare and rehabilitation, allowing animals to live in large, natural social groups wherever possible.
In addition to chimpanzees, visitors can see orangutans, gibbons, ring-tailed lemurs, stump-tailed macaques and several other monkey species, all living in spacious and carefully managed enclosures designed to encourage natural behaviours.
